Thanksgiving Holidays

November 27 - 29

Bad Weather

Please check local news stations for information about schools having a delayed start or cancellation due to bad weather.

If there is a 2 hour delay, we will open the campus at 9:30.  Students will need to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you parents for reading with your kids at home! Reading on level material to them or with them will help them make huge gains in reading fluency and comprehension.

All teachers are sending home passages weekly, so be sure to find it in your child's Monday Folder and keep it available all week to read.  Kids are checked on Monday and then again on Friday to see how much they improve.  It gives kids a big boost of confidence to see how much they can improve when they practice all week.

Visiting Bradford and VIPS

All visitors to the campus must sign in at the office and get a sticker.  Please bring your driver's licence to check in.  This is district policy for all SAISD schools.

If you would like to volunteer on our campus you must complete the VIPS information online.  To fill out the form go to saisd.org.  You will find the information on the district home page.

***Anyone who wants to go to the class parties must have filled out the VIPS information.  This is for the safety of all students.  We will have parties at Christmas, on Valentine's Day, and on the last day of school.  Please get your VIPS done as soon as you can so that you can attend.

Homework

Homework will be practice activities to support student learning at school.  Our main goal is for students to read for at least 20 minutes and to practice math facts

1st - 5th grade teachers will send home a reading passage every Monday.  This may be hard for some students at this time, so we ask that you read to them or with them if they have trouble.  Please read that passage every night, and hopefully by Friday they will be able to read the passage and answer grade level comprehension questions in class.

School Hours

PLEASE have your child on campus by 7:40.

Students are released to go to class at 7:35.

TARDY BELL - 7:45

Students will go to class, NOT THE OFFICE, if they are tardy.  Tardies will be put in the computer and tracked.

It is important for your kids to be in class and ready to learn at 7:45.  Teachers will start the day with a warm-up activity every morning.

If your child is 5 minutes late for one week, they have missed 35 minutes of important instruction time!

PLEASE MAKE IT A GOAL TO BE ON TIME EVERYDAY!

K - 2 students will go to the cafeteria before 7:35

3 - 5 students will go to the gym before 7:35

Breakfast will be served to all students at 7:40.  Breakfast will be put away by 7:55, so if your child is late they will not be able to have breakfast.  Regular instruction will start at 8:00.

Bradford is a NO BULLYING School!

Bullying happens...

When someone with greater power

unfairly hurts someone

with less power

over and over again.

Students often have conflict as they learn to make friends and deal with other students at school.  These conflicts are normal and are learning experiences, especially for our younger students.

If your child is being bullied, more than likely they won't tell due to a threat from the bully.  Watch for changes in your child's personality.  If you see signs such as not eatting, not wanting to attend various events such as school, sports, church, and other normal things, there may be a bullying issue.  Talk to your child and contact the school or other adults where your child may be on a regular basis to ask for help.
