San Angelo ISD Online Enrollment Now Available

Update  - We are aware of several issues regarding our new online registration process. We apologize for these issues as we work out the kinks in a new system.

Issue 1 - Withdrawal Forms - Several users have reported that a withdrawal form is required for all new registrations. You can safely skip uploading this document if your student has not attended school elsewhere (e.g. new PreK students or kindergarten students who did not previously attend school). These students' registrations will not be delayed or placed on hold for failure to submit this document.

Issue 2 - Snapcodes - Several users have reported not receiving their child's snapcode for returning student registration. We have been told that there have been some delays in the sending of those emails. Some users have reported those emails going to Spam or Junk folders. Please check those folders first. Emails are being processed and will be delivered as soon as possible.

Online enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year is now available for all new and returning San Angelo ISD students entering grades Pre-K through 12.

Parents of returning SAISD students will complete an Online Returning Student Registration form. Returning Student Registration forms can be accessed at the links below:

Online Returning Student Registration - English
Online Returning Student Registration - Spanish

Parents will need a unique access code to complete the Returning Student Registration. Automated emails with that unique code are being emailed to the primary guardian listed on file for each current student.

Parents of new SAISD students, including new Pre-K and kindergarten students, will complete an Online New Student Registration form. New Student Registration forms can be accessed at the links below:

Online New Student Registration - English
Online New Student Registration - Spanish

For more information about Pre-K and kindergarten registration, click here.

Upon first accessing the online registration site, parents will be asked to create an account. Parents who have both returning students and new students are advised to complete the returning student form first, as they can then copy the common information to their new student instead of starting with a blank form and inputting information twice.
Enrollment can be completed from any web browser or smart phone. Parents can digitally upload required registration documents such as birth certificate, proof of address, social security card, and immunization records in PDF, JPEG, and other standard file formats.

If you have any questions about the enrollment process, please contact your student’s campus for more information.

Virtual Home-Based Learning Through The School Year

San Angelo ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff has been meeting with city officials and elected leaders to discuss what is best for the health and safety of the community of San Angelo. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus is spreading within our community or if it has been contained. We have received 776 responses to our Travel Reporting form from staff and families, many of whom have traveled to areas of high-exposure, counties with confirmed cases present, or are concerned they have been in contact with someone who has been exposed. With all this in mind, San Angelo ISD wants to assist our community in following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness, including the need to implement social distancing protocol.

In preparation for children and faculty to be away from campuses, the team at San Angelo ISD has created a robust virtual learning platform to help support our students and staff. We are excited to launch this virtual learning platform. Parents will receive more information from their child’s campus no later than the end of this week.

This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions throughout the coming weeks and will provide periodic updates via our website, SwiftK12, and social media platforms.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of the community in San Angelo ISD stay safe and healthy.

SchoolCenter Picture~STAAR TESTING~

Governor Greg Abbott announced that he has waived the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing requirements for the 2019-2020 school year.

With schools across the state closing due to the ongoing concerns of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) stated that “it has become apparent that schools will be unable to administer the STAAR as they would normally. We are thankful for Governor Abbott’s willingness to waive the STAAR testing requirement, as it allows schools the maximum flexibility to remain focused on public health while also investing in the capacity to support student learning remotely.

Governor Abbott is working closely with TEA to ensure that schools continue to deliver instruction to students while students are absent or while schools are closed due to COVID-19. This includes tailoring instruction for students with special needs so that they have access to the same education as other students in the district. Governor Abbott will continue to work with the TEA on developing additional methods to ensure that students are learning and ready to succeed at the next grade-level.

“During this unprecedented public health challenge, we at TEA are doing all we can to support our schools and local communities,” said TEA in a statement released today. “We will continue to support [educators] in every way we can, including ensuring the availability of free tools to diagnose student learning.”

The move to waive testing requirements reflects the Governor’s emphasis on public health over all other priorities at this time. "Your health and safety are top priorities, and the state of Texas will give school districts flexibility to protect and ensure the health of students, faculty, and their families," said Governor Abbott. "We will empower schools to make the best decisions to protect their communities from COVID-19."

San Angelo ISD to Hold Two Commencement Ceremonies to Honor the Class of 2020

Due to current restrictions preventing mass gatherings, San Angelo ISD is planning two graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020 - a virtual ceremony in May and an in-person celebration in June. Students are encouraged to take part in both ceremonies.

San Angelo ISD will provide virtual graduation ceremonies for Central and Lake View High Schools and a diploma drive-through pick-up on Saturday, May 30th in lieu of a traditional ceremony. These ceremonies will be broadcast on Suddenlink Ch. 4 and streamed live on the internet so that family members may watch together from any location. Students will be certified as graduates during these ceremonies. Graduates will receive their diplomas in a drive-through event following the conclusion of each virtual ceremony.

San Angelo ISD has also secured the weekend of June 26th - 28th for a celebration event that will be very similar to a traditional graduation ceremony with social distancing protocol. During this ceremony, graduates from both high schools will have the opportunity to walk across the stage in cap and gown individually in front of their classmates.

"We want to provide the Class of 2020 with a meaningful and memorable graduation experience with as many elements of a traditional ceremony as possible," said SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff. "We know this is a difficult time for our graduating seniors and their families, and we know that nothing can ever replace a traditional graduation ceremony. But we hope that these dual ceremonies will provide our families with options and give our graduates the hard-earned recognition they deserve as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives."

We will continue to update students and parents with more details about these events through our website, social media accounts, SwiftK12, and directly from their high school campus.
