Welcome to the Carver Learning Center (CLC) web site. CLC is a disciplinary alternative education program for the student who has been withdrawn from his/her home campus for infractions to school codes of conduct. We work to help the student get caught up with or maintain his/her grade level and build foundation skills to enable the student to succeed academically when he/she returns to his/her home campus. Once placed in CLC, a student has to remain a minimum of 30 days. Over the course of a 6 week period, the student must have no more than 3 absences. The student is only allowed a set number of administrative referrals. Finally, in order to earn his/her way out of CLC, the student must be making appropriate academic progress in all 6 subjects. CLC campus has a complete video security system which monitors all hallways and classrooms. It has made a remarkable difference in the number of discipline referrals that we receive. Computers are available in all classrooms. Students are provided opportunities to utilize the computer in various assignments and projects in his/her classes. Abuse of this privilege may result in suspension of the privilege. Another component of the Carver Learning Center program is the short term education program which was once called SAC, now Short Term Carver. There is a Short Term program for elementary level students and one for secondary level students. We are located at 301 W. 9th in downtown San Angelo. If you have any questions about our program, please feel free to contact Mr. Noe Acosta, Principal at (325)659-3648. |
